The Pew Charitable Trusts' Advancing Quality Pre-K for All initiative seeks to advance high-quality pre-kindergarten for all the nation's three and four year olds through objective, policy-focused research, state public education campaigns, and national outreach. To date, Pew has invested more than $76 million to support partners who have worked nationally and with local groups in over half the states on behalf of pre-k education.

Pre-k for all efforts in California have a major supporter in The David and Lucile Packard Foundation. The Foundation's Children, Families, and Communities (CFC) Program works to ensure that opportunities exist for all children to reach their potential. The CFC Program concentrates grantmaking on the central goal of achieving pre-k for all in California and, ultimately, the nation. Pre-K Now is proud to play a role in the foundation's five-year strategic plan to achieve pre-k for all in California.

CityBridge Education takes on a particularly difficult American problem: the persistent education gap between higher- and lower-income American children. Through partnerships with existing best-in-class organizations, CityBridge focuses on expanding educational capacity and improving quality for lower-income children in Washington, D.C. Launched in 2006, the Early Years Education Initiative is a 5-year, $8 million plan to build a robust market for excellent, early childhood, urban education in the nation’s capital.
